Easy access to QMS documentation
SIG, a leading manufacturer in the packaging industry, chose AlisQI because the software system was easy to use. This matched their need to make QMS documents accessible to everyone in the organization, including the people on the shop floor.
The results: accessible data, enhanced control, and significant improvements. The smart QMS saves time, prioritizes issues, and helps the organization to go a lot deeper into the data.
In this case study, Martin Doomen, Lead Quality Engineer at SIG tells us about:
- SIG’s requirements for a QMS
- Improvements after the switch to a smart QMS
- Why they decided to integrate AlisQI with PowerBI
- Their ambitions for the future
With AlisQI, we managed to improve the quality of information and get things done much quicker. Whether we generate monthly reports or we are handling complaints (answering, credit notes, withdrawals), all information is linked together and easily available in the system. With just a few clicks we save hours daily if you count the different departments. AlisQI helps a lot.

What were the requirements when looking for a QMS solution?
The system had to be user-friendly and effortlessly adapted into daily life. Three suppliers competed for this project, two of them were given the opportunity to demonstrate functionalities in a pilot. From the start of the pilot with AlisQI, the no-code quality management system proved straightforward and easy to use. The great support from the AlisQI team also played an essential part in the decision.
3 easy steps to convince everyone that you need a QMS
On this page, you’ll find all the necessary resources to build a strong business case
for Quality Management and convince stakeholders that you need a QMS.
Our quality team was involved during the pilot phase (4 persons). The further we got into the pilot, the more enthusiastic we all got. We then encouraged all departments to make their own environment (model) with elements they used on a regular basis. Now AlisQI is part of daily life and people find easy access to other parts like QMS documentation which was the goal when we started.

Automating the routine
The switch to AlisQI helped SIG to automate routine tasks and make quality available throughout the organization. This led to significant improvements in time, the quality of information as well as traceability and reports.
When asked how their routine changed, Martin gave a few examples.
"We now have logbooks that help shop floor operators and support departments to handle day to day issues and log them in easily. The complaint system that sends out emails to selected personas is automated to move people towards action or close the task if it has already been completed. Safety incidents are also much easier to register, find and follow up on."
QMS needs to be integrated into daily life. This is easier said than done as documents are sometimes created to get to a standard (i.e. ISO, BRC packaging) but only as “window dressing” as we call it. A good QMS gives a basis for continuous improvement and should help you to find the weak points in your organization.

Seamless integration with PowerBI
When the company chose for AlisQI, they also started using intuitive dashboards. The dashboards gave them quick access to quality data, and clear metrics organized in visual snapshots. This was taken a step further when SIG decided to integrate AlisQI with PowerBI.
"As we developed the dashboards for our monthly reports, a new colleague found the functionality of PowerBI. We quickly noticed that with this integration we got more than beautiful, interactive reports - we could go a lot deeper into the data with a couple of clicks. So, we transferred the AlisQI data to PowerBI. Now, we enjoy the flexibility of this integration which greatly simplifies our decision-making process", Martin said.
Ambitions for the future
While the transformation with AlisQI started with document management, it is still ongoing. Asked about future plans, Martin said "The next step is the QC module, where we need to simplify our daily recording methods and improve the quality of data."
"We are also busy with introducing AlisQI to our sister plants, which should help us to create a bigger platform and improve our way of working even more."
